Callanish and the Southern Lunar Standstill - Glass Chopping board

Captured at Callanish as the Moon set beside the great stone, this photograph marks the final moonset of this year’s Southern Lunar Standstill, when the Moon reaches its lowest southern rising and setting points in an 18.6 year cycle. Although cloud hid the lowest moonset in March, this September morning brought a quieter, more atmospheric moment, and a very happy shared dawn at the stones with fellow Astro photographer Josh Dury.
