Callanish Standing Stones and the Milky Way

For a few precious months each year, before dawn in spring and after dusk in autumn, the glowing core of the Milky Way can be seen above the ancient Standing Stones of Callanish. Standing beneath its vast sweep of stars is always awe inspiring, a humbling, grounding reminder of the wonder of our galaxy. This photograph was displayed during a local Dark Skies Festival, with a portrait version featured on the cover of the Philip’s Stargazing Guide 2024.
