Callanish Standing Stones and Noctilucent Clouds

In the Outer Hebrides, midsummer nights never fully darken, leaving a soft, otherworldly glow across the landscape. Captured at the Callanish Standing Stones on a misty summer night, this image shows noctilucent, or night shining, clouds high in the atmosphere, their ice crystals catching sunlight long after sunset. A finalist in the ArtGemini Prize, it was also featured in the competition’s advertising and exhibited in London, a truly special chapter in the story of this photograph.
